Coal City teachers to parade through town

COAL CITY — Teachers at the Early Childhood Center, Elementary School and Intermediate School in Coal City miss their students and want to see their smiliing faces.

As a solution, they will be parading through the neighborhoods of Coal City on Monday, March 30, starting at 9:30 a.m.

The parade route will be shared on Facebook once it is finalized.

"The teachers got together and decided to have a car parade through town," Coal City superintendent Dr. Kent Bugg said. "They are going to drive their own cars by as many houses as they can, roll their windows down and wave to their students to let them know they miss them and are thinking about them.

"This current situation is tough on everyone, and for the kids, they are are used to that connection with their teachers every day. We want to try to engage with them as much as we can, and we thought this would be a good way to do it."
