On Thursday, District 202 and Aramark provided 802 nutritious breakfasts and lunches to students 18 and younger in the community.
That’s double the figure from Wednesday, which was double the figure from Tuesday.
Of that, bus drivers from First Student delivered 114 meals to students’ homes.
In addition, the all-volunteer Bags of Hope backpack food program on Monday delivered their regular supply of about 140 meals this week.
Bags of Hope usually delivers on Wednesday, so volunteers had to do a tremendous amount of work over the weekend to make sure District 202 students received their food. Bags of Hope is working with Savino’s Beef and Gyros in Plainfield to serve their students next week.
Numerous parents and community members have volunteered to help deliver food to students.
