Plainfield Dist. 202 to host programs on 2020 U.S. Census

Plainfield School District 202 will host two free community programs about the upcoming 2020 U.S. Census this month.

The two events will be on March 10 at Drauden Point Middle School and March 18 at Heritage Grove Middle School, according to a news release.

A representative from the U.S. Census Bureau will share information and resources, answer questions and explain the importance of everyone completing the 2020 census form.

Both programs will run from 6:30 to 8 p.m. and are open to the community.
Refreshments will be available.

Drauden Point Middle School is located at 1911 Drauden Road in Plainfield. Heritage Grove Middle School is located at 12425 S. Van Dyke Road in Plainfield.

Census Bureau workers, elected officials and local advocates have worked with numerous Will County officials and organizations to raise awareness about the importance of getting an accurate count in the census, especially in areas designated as hard to count. They've also stressed the importance of the approximately $200 million in government funding Will County receives every year from programs that rely on accurate census data.

Will County residents should receive the census form in the mail sometime later this month. For the first time ever in 2020, U.S. residents will be able to complete the census form online and on their smartphones.
