Gonzo’s Rock and Roll Pizzeria: Music, mouth-watering pies on tap at this local favorite

Who doesn’t love a good pizza? We all do!

But if you’re looking for the best pizza in Sandwich, however, head to Gonzo’s Rock and Roll Pizzeria.

The family-owned business serves up award-winning, mouth-watering pies made with only the freshest ingredients. But you’ll find more than just pizza at this local rock-and-roll themed destination. The pizzeria’s menu also includes appetizers, salads, sandwiches, and more. And often that fare is paired with live entertainment.

“Our entire selection of product, combined with our unique concept of offering live music which gives our local artists the opportunity to share their talent here be it original or cover or just having music in general in the background, within the rock and roll-saturated ambiance...all this puts Gonzo’s Rock and Roll Pizzeria in a kind of its own,” says Art “Gonzo” Garza, who runs the business with his wife, Jenny.

That’s also why the restaurant has been garnered a Best of the Fox award for 2019.

The Garzas appreciate the honor.

“There’s something to be said about hard work, staying consistent and taking pride in what you do and over and above all caring about the customer,” he said.

In pursuit of that mission, the pizzeria strives to follow a business philosophy of “always doing the very best you can while staying consistent in all areas for the customer.”

That, Garza says, is the secret to restaurant’s longevity.

“With the help of a strong, loyal and committed management and staff. We feel that consistency and pride in what whatever it is that you do is a huge key in contributing to any success,” he said.

Also a contributor to that success?

“Several years ago we were given the original 60-plus-year-old recipe of Gary “Gario” Schaffer, Fox Valley’s one and only “Gario” and to this day it hasn’t been compromised,” Garza says. “This December we’ll be going on 12 years of being in business.”

The husband and wife team hope to expand in the coming years, bringing the pizzeria concept to other locations. Dine-in, carry-out, and delivery are all available at Gonzo’s Rock and Roll Pizzeria, which has been in its current location for nearly eight years.

Garza enjoys having business roots in the Fox River Valley community.

“Born and raised in Aurora, I’ve found through the years that there’s just so much diversity in culture and food and a deep, rich history of music to go along with it, for as long as I can remember,” he says.
