Century 21 Coleman-Hornsby in Morris raises cash for Special Connections

Coleman-Hornsby donates to Special Connections

The agents at Century 21 Coleman-Hornsby recently held their annual Steak Fry for Charity. This year’s beneficiary is Special Connections of Grundy County for their Special Olympics program. Century 21 Coleman-Hornsby used proceeds from the event to present a $2,795.50 check to Special Connections.

The goal of Special Connections of Grundy County is to connect people with disabilities to their community through social interactions, education, recreational opportunities and shared information. They aim to promote an environment of inclusion, self determination and knowledge.

“Thank you to the agents of Century 21 Coleman-Hornsby for this generous check,” Special Connections Executive Director Kelly Thompson said. “We couldn’t do what we do without support of people like them. Our Special Olympics program provides year round training for our athletes to compete in Special Olympics Illinois. This donation will help sustain our program, which includes a number of sports, such as golf, bowling, swimming, track and field, basketball and bocce.”

The Steak Fry was co-chaired by agents Jim Maskel and JoEllyn Johnson, who organized the successful event. Century 21 Coleman-Hornsby agents cooked and served rib-eye sandwiches, pork chop sandwiches and hot dogs.

“A big thanks goes out to our agents at Century 21 Coleman-Hornsby,” Maskel said. “They worked hard all day long, and on a hot and rainy day. We couldn’t do it without all their help.”

Century 21 Coleman-Hornsby owner Shawn Hornsby said the fundraiser is one of just many generous things that the agents do each year.

“I’m very proud of our agents who are always involved in helping local organizations and people in need,” Hornsby said. “I am proud to work with such a great group of professionals who care deeply about the communities they serve.”

Century 21 Coleman-Hornsby is located at 1802 N. Division St., Morris, and is open seven days a week. They specialize in residential, commercial, vacant land, farm land and industrial properties.

“It makes it all worthwhile to be able to give Special Connections a check for $2,795.50 to help their Special Olympics program,” Johnson said.
