BREAKING: One dead in Aurora Township house fire

Investigation underway, but foul play not suspected

A fire Tuesday morning, July 16, in a house in the 1100 block of South State Street in unincorporated Aurora Township near Montgomery claimed the life of a 56 year-old woman, according to the Kane County Sheriff's Office.

In a press release, police identified the victim as Tamara Garcia. Police said Garcia was the only occupant of the residence at the time of the fire.

Sheriff's deputies and the Kane County Fire Investigation Task Force are investigating the fire. At this time foul play is not suspected, according to police.

Police said deputies and the Aurora Township Fire Department were summoned to the residence at 5:37 a.m. on a report of house on fire with a person possibly trapped inside. Upon arrival, police and firefighters found the house fully engulfed in flames. Due to the intensity of the fire, firefighters were initially not able to enter the residence. When firefighters determined it was safe to enter they located Garcia's body.
