SUGAR GROVE – The Air Classics Museum of Aviation in Sugar Grove is now open for the season, and new this year is an exhibit on the history of the Czechoslovakian Air Force. The museum is located one mile west of the Aurora airport entrance at 44W546 W. U.S. Rt. 30.
The museum is open 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. Admission is $7 for seniors 62 and older, $10 for adults ages 16 to 61, $5 for children ages 5 to 15. Children under 5 are admitted free when accompanied by their parent. Tours for groups of ten or more are available Tuesday through Friday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. by reservation.
Exhibits consist of indoor displays of aviation memorabilia from the 1930’s to the present. The outdoor flight line consists of a RF-86 Sabre Jet, a TA4-J Skyhawk, an F-105 Thunder Chief, a T-39 Saber Liner, an F-4B Phantom II, an A7-E Corsair II, a veteran of the Gulf War, an HU-1 Huey Helicopter, a veteran of Vietnam and four full size replicas of a P-51 Mustang, a P-40 War Hawk, a P-47 Thunder Bolt and a BF-109.
The museum honors Blue Star Families, the Museum Adventure Pass Program, Harvest Hosts and the Kane-DuPage Regional Museum Association Passport Program.
