Garage fire in McHenry causes $25,000 in damage

A Friday night structure fire in the 1700 block of Lakewood Avenue was estimated to have caused about $25,000 in damage, according to a news release from the McHenry Township Fire Protection District.

Crews were dispatched at 11:32 p.m. and arrived on scene five minutes later to discover smoke and fire coming through the roof a detached residential garage, according to the release.

Firefighters managed to get the fire under control in about 15 minutes. Damage was kept to the garage, according to the release.

No injuries were reported and the fire currently is under investigation, according to the release.

Mutual aid was provided by fire departments in Crystal Lake, Woodstock and Wonder Lake.
