21-year-old charged with shooting man during armed robbery in La Grange alley

LA GRANGE – A 21-year-old La Grange man has been charged with shooting a man during an armed robbery in a La Grange alley.

Michael Anderson, of the zero to 100 block of Washington Avenue, was charged with aggravated battery with a firearm, aggravated kidnapping and armed robbery after the alleged incident June 29 behind the 100 block of Hayes Avenue, according to a La Grange Police Department news release.

Officers responded at 11:19 p.m. and located the gunshot victim, who was conscious after being shot in the side, in a backyard near Hayes and Calendar avenues, the release stated. He was transported to a local hospital, treated and released.

Officers learned the encounter began socially between the victim and several men, but it turned violent when Anderson allegedly displayed a gun and demanded the victim’s personal belongings, according to the release. During the course of the alleged robbery, the victim was shot.

Anderson was arrested July 9, and he is being held without bond at the Cook County Jail, the release stated.
