13-year-old student arrested, accused of making threat to Genoa-Kingston school

GENOA – A 13-year-old Genoa-Kingston Middle School student was arrested Tuesday afternoon after police learned of a threat he made to the school Monday, Genoa Police Chief Robert Smith said.

A news release on the Genoa Police Department’s Facebook page posted about 2:30 p.m. Tuesday said police responded to Genoa-Kingston Middle School after officials learned about the threat.

During the investigation, it was learned a student had made “very specific threats,” including a date the threat would be carried out, the release said.

Smith said the student had a previous offense and was taken to the Kane County Juvenile Justice Center in St. Charles. He will have a court date Wednesday afternoon, Smith said.
