JOLIET – Two women were cited by police for allegedly getting into an argument over a parking spot at Walmart, authorities said.
On Wednesday evening, Yvonne M. Wilder, 33, of Joliet, and Elaine Hamilton, 31, of Bolingbrook, got into the dispute when Hamilton allegedly blocked a parking spot at the 2424 W. Jefferson St. Walmart, said Joliet Deputy Police Chief Ed Gregory.
Gregory said Wilder became alarmed when she was reportedly approached and yelled at by Hamilton at the parking spot. Hamilton allegedly pulled out her cellphone and recorded a video of Wilder until Wilder allegedly grabbed it away from Hamilton and threw it on the ground.
Wilder claimed to the police that she threw the cellphone down to get Hamilton away from her, according to police.
Officers who arrived on the scene gave Wilder a citation charging her with criminal damage to property because of the damage to the cellphone. Hamilton was issued a citation charging her with disorderly conduct.
Wilder and Hamilton are both due to appear in court Nov. 28 to contest the charges.
