Rock Falls man dies in head-on crash on Route 30

ROCK FALLS – A 60-year-old Rock Falls man died Sunday morning when his car, which was westbound on U.S. Route 30 just west of McNeil Road near Yeowardsville, crossed the center line and collided head-on with an eastbound semi-tractor trailer shortly before 5 a.m.

Timothy L. Ohda, formerly of Dixon, had to be cut from his Ford Focus and died at the scene, Whiteside County Coroner Joe McDonald said in a news release.

The semi was driven by Christopher M. Thomas, 42, of Streator, who was not injured, the Whiteside County Sheriff’s Department said in a release sent Sunday evening.
