No one injured in explosion, fire at Mr. Beef & Gyros

Oswego Fire Protection District officials and Nicor Gas are investigating the cause of an explosion and fire at Mr. Beef and Gyros restaurant in the 300 block of Douglas Road early Monday morning.

No one was injured in the explosion or resulting fire, according to the fire district.

The fire district reported that the explosion caused significant structural damage to the restaurant and to a vacant store directly south. Minor damage was also found at a nearby pizza restaurant.

Firefighters were summoned to the restaurant at approximately 3:50 a.m. Upon arrival they reported they found the front window of the restaurant and a neighboring business were blown out and a small fire was found inside the restaurant.

The monetary loss as a result of the explosion and fire has yet to be determined, the fire district reported.

The Montgomery and Countryside and Bristol-Kendall Fire Protection Districts provided coverage at Oswego Fire District stations during the incident.
