College Board names Johnsburg School District 12 on latest AP District Honor Roll

JOHNSBURG – Johnsburg School District 12 recently has been placed on the seventh annual AP District Honor Roll by The College Board.

District 12 is one of only 21 Illinois school districts to receive the honor.

To be considered, school districts must have improved access to AP courses and see improved performance levels on AP exams from 2014 to 2016.

“Over the past several years at Johnsburg High School, we have worked diligently to increase the Advanced Placement offerings for our students and with dedicating ourselves to prepare our students with the skills and knowledge to perform well in these difficult courses,” Johnsburg High School Principal Kevin Shelton said.

According to District 12, since the 2014-15 school year, the number of AP students enrolled at Johnsburg High School has nearly doubled from 116 students to 269 students.

In that same time period, Johnsburg High School also has added more AP courses, from offering seven AP courses in the 2014-15 school year to 14 for the 2016-17 school year.

“We are very proud of the staff and students at Johnsburg High School,” District 12 Superintendent Dan Johnson said. “We see our recognition by The College Board as a fantastic honor for our entire Johnsburg School District 12 community.

“We look forward to continuing to provide excellent academic programs for our students throughout the entire district.”
