JOLIET – Police said a convicted burglar who was released on parole last month attempted to force his way inside a Joliet home earlier this month.
Deandre C. Bolden, 23, of the 1400 block of Fairmont Avenue in Joliet, was taken into custody early Saturday at a residence in the 3600 block of Forest View Drive in Joliet. Bolden had been sought for arrest on a charge of residential burglary for a Nov. 11 incident in the 1500 block of Edgerton Drive.
Deputy Police Chief Al Roechner said that at 9:35 a.m. the day of the incident, witnesses saw Bolden ring the front doorbell of a house several times before riding his bicycle around to the rear of the residence.
"He tried to force his way inside and damaged the storm door," Roechner said. "A witness called police, and Bolden left on his bicycle before he could get inside. The witness identified Bolden from a photo lineup, and we obtained a warrant for his arrest."
According to the Illinois Department of Corrections, Bolden was released Oct. 4 from Menard Correctional Center, where he was serving a 12-year sentence for residential burglary.
On June 30, 2010, a Rockdale woman left for work in the morning and returned home to find someone had broken into her residence.
"She had a play-at-home slot machine in the basement, and when that was dusted for prints, they came back to Mr. Bolden," Rockdale Police Chief Robert Dykstra said.
According to Will County Court records, Bolden pleaded guilty to residential burglary in exchange for having an unrelated aggravated battery with a firearm charge dismissed.
