Woodstock School District 200 Board approves 3 new principals

WOODSTOCK – Three people on Tuesday were approved by the Woodstock School District 200 Board to take over principal roles next school year.

“We’re really excited,” Superintendent Mike Moan said. “We had great candidate pools and a great collaborative process involving teachers, parents and students at the high school level.”

Michael Wheatley will replace Creekside Middle School Principal Bob Hackbart, who is retiring after 20 years with the district, according to information from District 200 officials. Wheatley will come from Cooper Middle School in Buffalo Grove where he is assistant principal.

He will bring experience in instructional technology and science, technology, engineering and math fields with him, said District 200 administrative assistant Lynn Mohan.

At Westwood Elementary School, Ryan Hart will come from Martin Elementary School in Huntley to take over for Jason Eggert.

Moan has said Eggert is leaving the district for a different opportunity. Hart is now the assistant principal at Martin and has led efforts to adopt a one-to-one technology program.

Jeremy Schaaf, who was appointed principal at Northwood Middle School after the former principal resigned and was formally accused of stealing funds from the Parent Teacher Organization, kept the job after the board approved the hire Tuesday.

Previously, Schaaf was the assistant principal at Woodstock North High School.

Already approved was Darlea Livengood, currently the associate principal at Larkin High School in Elgin, to take over for Woodstock North Principal Brian McAdow.

McAdow will leave the role to fill in for Associate Superintendent for Human Resources Mark Heckmon, who will be retiring at the end of the school year.
