Shannon Allen and Sherry Allen will have a lot to talk about at their next family reunion.

This year’s Princeton Master’s Tournament went down to the last ball thrown with Shannon Allen beating out Sherry Allen, her sister-in-law, by two pins. Shannon finished with 94.15 Peterson Points, Sherry 94.13.

“I honestly did not think I had the chance to win as Sherry bowled awesome the whole tournament. I was just trying to hold my position in second place,” Shannon Allen said.

Shannon Allen joins her mother-in-law, Joyce Allen, who won the Master’s tournament 40 years ago, on the list of Master’s champions, as well as her husband, Randy, who won the men’s crown in 1997.

“It means a lot to me to win my first masters. It is something I have been working towards for a long time,” she said. “I am honored to have won and join a great group of women before me that hold that title.”

For his part, Randy Allen, Sherry’s brother, was trying to stay in a neutral corner.

“I was cheering for both of them. I was thrilled and heartbroken at the same time,” Randy said.

Shannon had the high series for Saturday, rolling a 1,051. She also claimed pins over average award. She came in with a 173 average and ended up with 200.75 for tournament, over by 27.75 pins.

Two-time defending champ Cari Hanson settled for a third-place finish at 90.11. She rolled the high series for Sunday of 1,004.

Former Master’s champ Anna Flaig rolled the high game of the tournament with a 248 Saturday. She finished fourth overall (89.38).

Rounding out the Top 10 were 2015 runner-up Melinda Camp (86.36), Amber Poff (81.15), Chastidy Rotramel (80.13), Carol Towne (79.45), Deb Routt (79.34) and Dana Jesiolowski (78.01).

The sportsmanship award was won by Angie Faber and Sherry Allen.
