Where did you grow up? In the Fox Valley area.
Pets? Not since we lost our boxer Gracie three years ago.
Who would play you in the movie of your life? I would play myself.
First job? A cafeteria worker at St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin.
As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? A veterinarian. I became that. I went back to school at age 38 and retired after 17 years from the Animal Medical Clinic of St. Charles. Now, I went back to my love of art.
A book you'd recommend? "All the Light We Cannot See" by Anthony Doerr
Favorite charity? American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and the Northern Illinois Food Bank
Favorite ice cream flavor? Chocolate
Children? Three
Favorite local restaurant? Riganato in Geneva
What is an interesting factoid about yourself? When I wanted to become a vet, I finished my undergraduate work in three years and spent four years commuting to the University of Illinois at Urbana. I commuted. I left on Sunday and came back on Friday.
