Dark Star Comics opens doors

PRINCETON — Wülf Cinq-Mars, owner of Dark Star Comics in Princeton, promises his recently opened store in Princeton offers a fun atmosphere.

“This is a fun place for kids to hang out after school and work,” he said. “It is a social place where people can meet others with similar interests.”

Dark Star Comics, located at 524 S. Main St. in Princeton, sells comic books, collectibles, action figures, toys, graphic novels, T-shirts, gaming items (Magic, Pokémon and Yu-Gi-Oh), board games, limited edition merchandise from Marvel and DC Comics, and artisan crafts from local artists.

It also has a gaming mezzanine upstairs where people can play games plus a place to hold tournaments.

Cinq-Mars, who lives in Lake Thunderbird, opened Dark Star Comics in September. He had a store in Lacon for a few months but moved it to Princeton.

“We needed the extra space for games and merchandise. I like the Main Street atmosphere,” he said. “I wanted to open in Princeton, but started in Lacon.”

Cinq-Mars will sell gift certificates and people can hold parties there. He also has a bargain bin of comics with items for $1. Another service is costuming where people can play different roles in games by dressing up as those characters.

The store was named after Grateful Dead song “Dark Star,” which appealed to Cinq-Mars.

The store is open later than other businesses, which gives people an opportunity to have time to relax by playing games after school or after work.
