ST. CHARLES – A drugstore pharmacy technician faces felony drug and theft charges after St. Charles police say she stole and sold pills from her employer.
According to a St. Charles police report, police confronted Colette Patricia Mazzie, 25, last Wednesday at Walgreen's, 3351 W. Main St., about her stealing about 2,000 hydrocodone pills since mid-July.
She told police she took the pills and sold them for $2 each because she needed money to pay bills, according to the report.
Mazzie reportedly gave the police 12 pills she had with her and agreed to turn herself in the next day with the remaining pills.
She came to the police station Thursday with two bottles containing 463 pills. The drugs were inventoried and put into evidence, according to the report.
Mazzie, of the 600 block of Hapsfield Lane, Buffalo Grove, was charged with delivering a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and theft.
She is next expected in Kane County Court at 9 a.m. Nov. 4 in Room 217.
Walgreen's planned to conduct an audit to determine the exact number of pills stolen.
If 2,000 had been taken, the store's loss would total $1,567, according to the report.
