Two area motorists face DUI charges

TWO DRIVERS were charged with DUI by Grundy County deputies in separate traffic stops Sunday night.

Kevin Thomas, 27, 823 Liberty St., was stopped near Illinois Avenue and Calhoun Street about 6:10 p.m. Sunday. He was charged with DUI, driving with a suspended license, driving a vehicle with a defective windshield and not having proof of insurance.

He was taken to the county jail in lieu of $300 cash bond and given a Jan. 25 court date.

Deputy Darren Roach reported he saw Thomas driving a vehicle with a cracked windshield. A computer check showed his license was suspended.

After stopping the vehicle, Deputy Roach reported Thomas could not find an insurance card and appeared intoxicated.

He was then charged with DUI.

Amy Rowell, 44, 2420 Lincoln Lake Dr., was charged with DUI and improper lane usage about 9:45 p.m. Sunday in Coal City.

Deputy Josh Slattery reported he stopped Rowell on Broadway, south of North Street, for improper lane usage. He reported her vehicle went over the fog line and center line, then stopped on the street for no reason.

In talking to her, he reported Rowell appeared intoxicated. She failed three field sobriety tests and was charged with DUI.

Taken to the county jail, she posted $100 and her driver's license and was released.
